Take care of your skin in the sun

About one in five Americans will develop skin cancer in their lifetime. More people were diagnosed with skin cancer in 2009 than with breast, prostate, lung, and colon cancer combined. One form of skin cancer, melanoma, is one of the few cancers that has a rising number of cases each year.

Fortunately, most people will not get skin cancer. But skin damage from the sun leads to scarring, premature wrinkles and age spots. Our Miracle Skin Renew Serum’s 100% natural ingredients help heal burns while also preventing scars. One of our customers told us that it also works well on a scalp that’s dry and itchy from the sun.

BodyVerde Naturals skin care and beauty: Take care of your skin in the sun A gentle natural moisturizer can work wonders to smooth away fine lines near the eyes and mouth. Wrinkle Free Perfection Night Moisturizer was designed to work overnight, combining the healing properties of Vitamin E, Vitamin A, rose flower, shea butter, jojoba oil, coconut oil and lavender essential oil.

In honor of Skin Cancer Detection and Prevention Month, here are just a few friendly skin cancer prevention reminders from the experts:

  • Seek shade when possible when the sun’s rays are the strongest – between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
  • Generously apply sunscreen, SPF 30 or higher, to protect against UVA and UVB rays. Apply it 15 minutes before going out in the sun and reapply it every two hours. Remember – most people need to use about one ounce of sunscreen in one application. That’s enough to fill a shot glass.
  • Wear a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses.
  • Get your Vitamin D through a healthy diet and supplements.

As with all skincare products, ingredients matter, and certain sunscreens have been deemed safer than others. The Environmental Working Group Sunscreen Guide 2012 contains information on 1,800 sunscreens and SPF lip balms, moisturizers and makeup.
